§ 26-1. Assessment of costs—For courthouse maintenance, construction and renovation.

  • Pursuant to Code of Virginia, § 14.1-133.2, as amended, repealed, reenacted, or recodified from time to time, an additional fee as provided in the appendix to this chapter, to be taxed as costs on every civil case filed in the district or circuit courts located within the city and on each criminal or traffic case in such courts, in which the defendant is charged with a violation of any statute or ordinance is hereby assessed, such assessment to be paid to the city treasurer by each of those courts clerk's offices upon payment to be held by the treasurer for the maintenance, construction and renovation of the courthouse, jail and other court related facilities and to defray increases in cost of cooling, heating and electricity as the same may be directed by the city manager and/or the city council.
